I really enjoyed reading this action packed book. I am looking forward to the next in a long line of adventures for these characters. Who knows where they will go next? I plan on finding out. A very good first book and hopes for many more.
Great summer read, but start it when you can commit the time because you won't want to put it down! Also enjoyed a little cultural education while praying that Max would oh-so gingerly walk through the mine fields of life however well-intentioned. Good stuff!
From the first chapter, Massoglia captures your attention and leads you back and forth in time. It's hard to put the book down. The story lines tie into each other in creative ways that gives you an "a-ha" moment. Truly enjoyable!
Ironically, it is the disregard for one of the ten basic commandments "Do Not Steal" that gives us a glimpse into the art history of the Catholic church. Max is an endearing character that you want to steer away from his own self-inflicted trouble in this engaging plot.
Gripping read from the prologue to the finale! I love the intermix of historical anecdotes with the everyman story of Max Agresta.
The novel is a fast read and difficult to put down.
Massoglia captures the attention of anyone leading a circumscribed life. This book allows you to escape into an area that is realistic enough to imagine, but intense enough to keep your interest. The European setting was brought to life and I was inspired to want to visit the locations described. I cant Wait to see what he writes next....maybe something with a South American adventure??
I met Marc at a business dinner a couple of months ago and during our conversation, he told me he had written a book based on a true story, with some personal history thrown in. I am not well versed in Catholicism, nor in Italian culture, and for the first page or so , I thought I was over my head! But I was amazed by the way Marc could inform the reader of things they have no knowledge of. I hope Marc continues to write more books.
